Cemetery work party on Saturday, October 24th

CEMETERY WORK PARTY
Saturday, Oct. 24, from 9 am – 12 noon

cemetery entranceMany tree limbs fell down in our recent wind storms,
so to get the cemetery spiffed up in preparation for All Souls Eve, we are having a clean-up work party to pick up limbs and haul them away.

If you can, bring gloves and leaf rakes to help us with the clean-up!

Successful Spring Work Party!

cemetery spring work party lamium work 7mar15_3229The cemetery was so well cleaned up by the efforts of the Friends this winter, through volunteer and paid help,  that there was no need for any raking and debris pick up.

So we started in on the eradication of the noxious weed Yellow Archangel that is taking over the back of the cemetery. It is creeping at an alarming rate and we needed to knock it back.

A big thank you to the volunteers who worked hard at digging it up and putting it into plastic bags to be disposed of! Much more work to be done, but a terrific start was made in controlling it.

We also hauled out a large dump trailer load of branches and debris. This area, which had been patiently waiting its turn for some attention, is now spiffed up!

It’s time for the cemetery’s annual Spring Work Party on Saturday morning, March 7th, from 10 am – 12 noon. We’ll be finishing cleaning up the winter debris, weeding and trimming, removing invasive plants, hauling debris, and getting the cemetery ready for mowing. Bring your gloves, rakes and tools.

Come for as short or long as you can, and help us care for this special place!

Cemetery Winter Work Party
Saturday, January 10th
10 am – 12 noon

We’ve had quite the winter storms and there is a lot of downfall in the cemetery. Jim Pugh has generously offered his large dump trailer for hauling the debris away. People have been dragging branches to the edge of the road, so much of it is piled up and ready to take away.

Are you available from 10 am – 12 noon this coming Saturday, January 10th to help fill up Jim’s trailer? With many hands we can get the cemetery cleaned up (and beautiful until the next wind storm!). Sometimes we make it through the winter without an extra cleanup like this, but this year the wind was a little too wild.

Please RSVP if you can make it, and thank you so much for helping to care for the cemetery!
